Fall Couple Photoshoot | Washington Park | Albany, NY

When art, dance, love & friendship all come together it can create breathtaking imagery!

Promptly at 2:00 o’clock, Natalia and Steve appeared out of nowhere for our fall couple photo shoot! Gleaming with bright smiles and dressed to the nines, I knew this portrait session was going to be such a treat for me. Natalia is a longtime friend from the ice rink, we both specialize in ice dance. She’s known for her artistic and bold ice show programs and has such an eye for detail! So I knew right off the bat that this session was going to be filled with artistry and expression!

Steve, although quiet at first, was not to be underestimated in his abilities to create a wonderful photo. Immediately when I positioned both of them at the first location, Steve caught on quickly to how to pose perfectly for each shot. However, he had a few tricks up his sleeve that even I wasn’t prepared for. He has the incredible ability to make Natalia laugh and bring out a radiant smile in her! Both of them are such naturals in front of the camera that, at some points during the photoshoot, all I had to do was just fire off the shutter and let them create magic with every frame.

Natalia and I have shot together before, and it’s such a wonderful feeling for a creative to know that the person you’re photographing knows your vision and trusts everything you’re doing. Especially when you’re asking your subjects to stand directly next to water, surrounded by tall weeds!

On top of the beautiful location in Washington Park in Albany and the beautiful pastel-styled colors Natalia chose for our shoot, I think one of my favorite parts of this portrait session was the movement that carried all the way through our session. Natalia’s background in dance and choreography really shows in these photos, from her knowledge of arm placement to knowing when and when not to acknowledge the camera. It didn’t matter whether she had blades on her feet, or if it was a rink or a park, she posed like she was performing a program anytime the camera was on her!

This session flew by so quickly it hardly felt like it was an hour. Normally, after this amount of time shooting, most couples lose stamina being in front of the camera for so long, but I was shocked when both of them continued to have the same level of energy as at the beginning, if not even more, by the very end! I think they could go on shooting for hours if they could! Accented with the beautifully changing fall leaves and the glow of the sun, both of them created such joyous images in this beautiful park photoshoot.
