Autumn Couple Photoshoot | Peebles Island State Park | Upstate NY

Sometimes the quiet moments have power within themselves!

Peebles Island is meant for the most adventurous couples! Before even going into this shoot, I knew I’d have to keep up with these two during our portrait session. Despite their quiet demeanors at first impression, don’t let that fool you, both of them are some of the most motivated individuals I’ve ever met.

Cara and Zev both have their doctorates in science fields and have made a huge step in their lives by buying their first home. On top of all that, Cara is also another friend from the ice rink. She spends her free time practicing her skating skills and crafting her performances, her specialty is spirals! In the meantime, Zev is watching from the bleachers, cheering her on during practices and performances. Even when school got busy, he’d just bring his laptop to the rink!

Neither are short of being dedicated, not only to their careers and crafts, but also to each other. This really showed throughout the entirety of their photo session. After warming up with the first few poses, they both caught on very quickly. Cara even took the lead on a few poses, where I only needed to give a little direction. Despite Zev being vocal about the fact that he was a little nervous, this never really showed during our session. Zev has a great natural smile and presence that complements Cara’s calm demeanor and confidence!

I think my favorite part is how easy it was for them to get lost in their own world together. Sharing a simple smile with each other or a small kiss was all that was needed to block out everything around them. They both go on strolls and walks through parks regularly, so this little trail was just another peaceful afternoon for them. Walking hand in hand and simply taking in the view was enough to keep them both happy. Even when not many words were exchanged, sometimes the quiet moments have power within themselves.

I was most impressed with the fact that their energy never dropped at any point. No matter the challenge, whether it was hiking down to a waterfall or asking them to stand on steep rocks, they never objected. They went through each pose with smiles and determination! Even when my own stamina was waning a bit, they never gave the slightest hint that either was tired.

This really was an endearing portrait session, and Cara and Zev couldn’t have done a better job. Their warm energy really matched the fall backdrop and the styling choices Cara chose for their outfits. Peebles Island was a perfect fit for them!
